3GN 2011: By the Numbers
A Rundown of the Numbers That Punctuate the End of the 2011 3GN Season
By Chad Adams
6 – Number of competitors tied atop the 3GN season-ending standings with 300 points apiece. Barry Deuck, Clint Upchurch, Daniel Horner, Rob Romero, Mike Voigt and Kurt Miller all had at least three match wins to push their top three scores to a perfect 300. 1 – Number out of those six who are still alive in the 3GN Championship Shoot-Off. Mike Voigt’s elimination-round win over Clint Upchurch left Voigt as the last man standing from the points leaders.

Mike Voigt will mix it up with Taran Butler during the 3GN Championship Shoot-Off Finale in Las Vegas.
<1 – Less than one point was all that separated three more competitors from also finishing with 300 points. James Casanova (299.37), Taran Butler (299.32) and Adam Popplewell (299.31) each narrowly missed out on Division Championships. Casanova got edged by Miller, Butler by Payne, and Popplewell by Dueck in their closest finishes. Upchurch, Horner, Romero, Miller and Dueck won their respective divisions. 1 – Number of the <1 group still standing. Taran Butler is the only one left here. And who will he face in Vegas—you guessed it, Mike Voigt.
1 – Number from Final 8 that has won a 3GN Shoot-Off: Taran Butler, who cashed a $5,000 check following the 32-man 3GN Shoot-Off at Blue Ridge, 2010.

Taran Butler has one 3GN Shoot-Off win already, making him one of the favorites to win it all in Las Vegas.
1, 8, 18, 21, 26, 36, 38 and 60 – The final rankings on the 3GN Standings of the Final 8 competitors heading into Las Vegas. Mike Voigt (1), Taran Butler (8), Tyler Payne (18), Jeff Cramblit (21), Tommy Thacker (26), Rustin Bernskoetter (36), Mark Hanish (38) and Phil Strader (60) will settle the matter Jan. 18 in Sin City.

Phil Strader put together impressive FN and 3GN matches to advance. His pistol skills make him a threat.
6 – Number from Final 8 with previous 3GN Shoot-Off experience: Voigt, Butler, Payne, Cramblit, Bernskoetter and Hanish.
2 – Number from Final 8 making their first 3GN Shoot-Off appearance: Tommy Thacker and Phil Strader.

FN's Tommy Thacker's debut in the 3GN Shoot-Off continues in Vegas along with teammate Mark Hanish.
54 – Number of ladies who recorded scores at one or more 3GN-affiliated matches during the 2011 season. Leading the way—Kay Miculek. The Women’s Division Champ also turned in the single best match of the Ladies for the season, an 81.94 in Open at the Pro Am. 31 – Number of junior shooters that recorded scores at 3GN-affiliated matches in 2011. Leading the way—Cody Leeper, who passed Katie Harris at the final match to capture the overall points lead before winning the Shoot-Off and the Division title. If Leeper, Jake Denno, Harris and others continue to improve, the Junior Division could be extremely competitive in 2012. Cody Leeper finished 2011 strong, highlighted by his 3GN Junior Division Championship and $5K from CTD!
