3GN Champion, Horner, & Jarrett Advance to 3GN Championship
Just four months after Daniel Horner won his third consecutive, and fourth overall, 3-Gun Nation Championship, the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit shooting phenom was at it again. Horner topped an exclusive field to win Event #1 on the 2017 Pro Series Tour, defeating Todd Jarrett in the Shoot-Off, as both advanced to the 3GN Championship in November.
Horner has been unstoppable of late on the 3GN Pro Series, and last November he was arguably as dominant as ever, running the table without ever being threatened before topping Greg Jordan in the Championship.
This time, as the 2017 Pro Series kicked off in Florida, Horner was again untouchable during Event # 1, which consisted of a Stage 1, Eliminator and Shoot-Off. Horner’s Stage 1 time of 19.02 topped the field easily, enabling him to automatically advance to the Shoot-Off.
World Champion pistol shooter Todd Jarrett finished second on Stage 1, with a time of 21.03, advancing him to the Shoot-Off in his first 3GN event.
Rick Torres (23.39), Blaese Romano (23.20), Russell Poole (22.40) and Tom Lackley (22.43) all missed the cut, sending the four competitors to the eliminator stage.
Poole, by virtue of having the fastest Stage 1 time of the group, had the honor of picking the Eliminator challenge, settling on the rifle array. Torres (8.70) and Lackley (8.86) advanced, while Romano (9.53) and Poole (9.60) were eliminated. In the semi-finals, Horner topped Lackley, while Jarret defeated Torres, setting up the Shoot-Off finals.
For winning Event #1, Horner took home $1,000, while Jarrett earned $500. Both Pros also advanced to the 3GN Championship to be held in November at Virginia International Raceway, part of the 3GN Championship & Shooting Sports Expo.
The 2017 3GN Pro Series, in its entirety, will be broadcast from the Regionals via 3GN LIVE!, airing on both Facebook Live and Livestream.
