Harris Trails by Two Points; Miculeks, Griffen, B. Harris in Contention

FNH USA's Dianna Liedorff, who is shooting Open this season, has established the early lead in 3GN Lady.

With four matches in the books, FNH USA’s Dianna Liedorff has carved out the narrowest of leads in the 3GN Lady division, sporting a two-point advantage over Katie Harris. Liedorff, who switched to running in the Open division this season, has posted three strong scores of 67.77, 62.09 and 61.35, a solid start to shooting new equipment and playing in the fast Open division.

Meanwhile, Harris has posted a 73.98 already this season, meaning Liedorff’s lead is anything but safe. The junior Noveske shooter will likely give Liedorff everything she wants, and then some, throughout the remainder of what is shaping up to be an exciting race in the 3GN Lady division.

Katie Harris, currently in second place, figures to be in the mix throughout the remainder of the 2012 race.

At stake: four slots in the 3GN Lady Shoot-Off next January in Las Vegas at the 3GN Rumble on the Range, with the winner taking home $5,000 from Hornady. While Liedorff and Harris seemingly have a firm grip on two slots, with one score of 73.58 already in the books, Kay Miculek figures prominently into a third slot, with the lone female 3GN Pro Series competitor likely to challenge for the top seed.

So beyond the top spot, the lion’s share of the drama in this race will likely involve the fourth and final slot. Lena Miculek, Sharon Griffin and Bethany Harris are all within striking distance, with young Miculek, in her first year of 3-gun competition, currently holding the edge. Cheryl Fordyce, with a one-match score of 52.13, certainly isn’t out of the race either. A dark horse for the final spot might just be Karla Herdzik, who took top lady at the Tarheel 3-Gun in June and has yet to log a 3GN Lady score thus far. The new FNH USA team member, though still new to 3-gun herself, could make a push for the last seat at the table for what promises to be an exciting Shoot-Off under the lights next January.

Liedorff and Harris battled all season last year, with another 3GN Lady Shoot-Off duel a strong possibility.
