Pros Sweep Texas Multi-Gun Championship
Butler, Voigt, Miller & Dueck march to victory in WWII-themed match.
Mike Voigt (SureFire/Safariland) posted a score of 1759.44 to cruise to the Open division victory over DPMS’ James Darst (1626.7113). Smith & Wesson’s Jerry Miculek (1617.63), Don Bednorz (1507.46) and Chris Patty (1305.39) rounded out the top five in Open. Voigt’s performance also earned him the top overall score of the Larue Tactical Texas Multi-Gun Championship, besting Tactical Optics winner Taran Butler by a mere six match points.
Butler (Salient/Benelli) won his third consecutive major 3-gun match (FB3G, SMM3G) with a score of 1753.23, defeating a field of 250 competitors for the division victory. Sheldon Blackwell (1569.46) finished second in the Tactical division, followed by Kalani Laker (1502.24), Chris Sechiatano (1502.24) and Bennie Cooley (1416.70).
Kurt Miller again showed why he is considered the most dangerous competitor in Limited with a division-winning score of 1679.01. Michael Seeklander (1564.26) finished second, followed by Cameron Thompson (1414.64), an up-and-coming young shooter from Georgia.
In Tactical Heavy (or Heavy Metal Optics), SureFire’s Barry Dueck (1695.15) came out on top in his continuing back-and-forth battle with Larue Tactical’s Adam Popplewell (1608.83), in the closest of the four division races. Hornady’s Jeff Cramblit (1534.02) finished third, followed by 3-gun veteran Benny Hill (1498.51).
