State of the Nation

Posted on 5/12/2010

The FNH USA 3-Gun Nation Tour, Presented by SureFire, has made an immediate rule change in response to the cancellation of event scoring at the Sabre Defence Blue Ridge Mountain 3-Gun. The second event on the 3GN tour was cancelled for scoring midway through the match due to severe weather storms.

For the overall 3-Gun Nation series, 3GN has adjusted the requirements for those attempting to qualify for the championship. Prior to the Blue Ridge event, 3GN competitors were to use the best three scores to determine their overall series score and qualification for the 3-Gun Nation championship event. Now, due to the weather stoppage of the Blue Ridge event, 3GN competitors will use the best two scores to qualify for the championship. Competitors must still compete in a minimum of three events to qualify for the 3GN championship, and the Blue Ridge event will still be counted as a 3GN qualifying match. However, it will not count for 3GN scores. Competitors must rely on the other remaining matches in the series for their two best qualifying scores.

“This is the most viable solution for the situation we have encountered,” said Pete Brown, president, National 3-Gun Association. “Furthermore, we believe this will be how the series will be adjusted in future seasons should we be faced with this type of scenario again.”

The remaining stops on the FNH USA 3-Gun Nation Tour, Presented by SureFire, are FNH USA Midwest 3-Gun Championship, May 21-23; MGM Ironman, June 10-12; and JP Enterprises Rocky Mountain 3-Gun, Aug. 5-7. Rocky Mountain is currently filled, with a waiting list of at least 50 competitors.

The 2010 FNH USA 3-Gun Nation series, presented by SureFire, will culminate its series after the United States Practical Shooting Association’s Multi-Gun Nationals held outside Las Vegas on Sept. 13 at the Desert Sportsman Range. The championship will crown one winner with the title of 3-Gun Nation champion, with a grand prize of $25,000, provided by Leupold, while the second place finisher will receive $10,000, courtesy of US P.A.L.M., and the third place finisher will receive $5,000 courtesy of Timney.
