Jansen was first introduced to firearms through his father while hunting across the plains of Nebraska during his childhood.
While in college, Jansen attended his first IDPA match in the Spring of 2004 and has been competing in pistol ever since. In 2008 Jansen moved to Georgia for law school and met fellow team member Rob Romero while competiting at a multi-gun match.
An Expert in IDPA, Jansen cites teammate Rob Romero as the reason for his success and evolution in the competitive shooting arena. In the Summer of 2010, Jansen was selected to represent the United States by shooting on the U.S. Standard Manual Team at the 2010 Pan American Shotgun Championship.
