General FAQ’s
Q: What is 3-gun?
A. 3-Gun, also known as multi-gun, is a practical, action-shooting sport in which competitors utilize a rifle, pistol and shotgun to engage targets throughout a given course of fire. See the video that launched the 3-Gun Nation Tour: http://www.3gunnation.com/video/3-gun_promotion_video.
Q: What guns and gear do I need?
A: For the most part, any given semi-automatic rifle in .223, semi-auto pistol in 9 mm and a 12-gauge shotgun will get you started. A sturdy belt and holster are a must, and magazine and other ammunition pouches/holders are also helpful. For more detailed gear info, browse the individual sections here in “Get Started.”
Q: Where can I play this game?
A: Check out the 3GN Match Listings under Sport of 3-Gun, as we’re currently building the most comprehensive match database in the sport. Otherwise, go to “Where To Shoot,” and use the NSSF’s range search engine to find a shooting facility near you. Chances are, if they don’t have a 3-gun match of their own, they can point the way.
Q: How can I get better?
A: Practice, practice, practice, of course. But practicing the wrong skills and techniques only further reinforces our bad habits. So tour the Training section here in Get Started, where you’ll find instruction from the top pros on the 3-Gun Nation Tour.
Q: Can I compete for cash and prizes like the top pros on the 3GN Tour?
A: Absolutely. The 3GN Tour is for everyone. The full schedule of events and series information can be found in 3GN Rules.
