An offshoot of what many consider the founding match of 3-gun, JP Enterprises' Rocky Mountain 3-Gun (RM3G) continues a proud legacy, not only as one of the forefathers of the sport, but of a challenging course of fire that utilizes the rugged New Mexico landscape to create an event like no other.
Rocky Mountain 3-Gun: Event 5 - Season 1

The final event of the ground-breaking 2010 3-Gun Nation Tour, the 3GN Championship Shoot-Off pitted 16 of the top 3-gunners in the world in a single-elimination, man-on-man drag race through a course of MGM steel targets. But to get there, competitors had to post one of 16 top scores out of field of more than 50 top practical shooters.

From giant slides, to zip lines, to funky firing positions, to round after round after round of ammunition fired, MGM's Ironman is a multi-gun competition unlike any other on earth. Win it, and most veteran competitors will consider you one of the toughest 3-gunners around. But to do so, you must fire well over 1,000 rounds of ammunition from every type of conceivable firing position: elevated, moving, crouching and more.

Since JP Enterprises first took over the old Soldier of Fortune match, MGM Targets, DPMS and FNH USA have all summoned their resources to establish major 3-gun matches across the country, adding venues in Idaho, Minnesota and Missouri, respectively. The impact upon the sport’s growth has been tremendous, and FNH USA’s Midwest 3-Gun Championships is one of several matches that has seen explosive growth.

While the eastern states may have been slow to develop major 3-gun competitions, the Blue Ridge Mountain has nevertheless hit the ground running under the watchful eye of match director Andy Horner, a veteran multi-gun shooter. Taking lessons learned from competing in major matches all over the United States, Blue Ridge is unique, utilizing a remarkable expanse of land at the new Rockcastle Shooting Center near Bowling Green, Kent. As such, Blue Ridge utilizes the natural terrain features of Kentucky's western foothills, in turn delivering what are arguably some of the most challenging stage designs in 3-gun competition.
